<li>Studio Two will consist of a “talkshow” marathon where bloggers, journalists and our guests will talk about innovation, social media and other digital related topics.</li>
</ul>
<p>All discussions will be held in English and will be <a href="http://www.ustream.tv/socialmediaclub">broadcast live</a> via Social Media Club&#8217;s account on uStream. We will also release the 8+ hours of video as video on demand or as HD video files, and it will be published on various media outlets including Read Write Web and Social Media Club. All content will be available under a Creative Commons License.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sitting on a L shaped modern couch in my room, I&#8217;m trying to find the words I&#8217;d like to express. My head is constantly bombarded with thoughts, ideas, and to-do lists. Due to the rapid firing of my thought process I rely on past experiences and correlate these experiences to my present situations in order to come to a solution that is right for me. This thought pattern helped me as a child creating relationships and lead me to social media. Not a novel idea and very basic.</p>
<p>Have the rules really changed that much when it comes to building good relationships? In my mind, they haven&#8217;t. While using social media, is the goal to form, maintain, or gather information for relationships? For me, it is. I consider this a strong correlation. I believe people should revert back to the lessons learned during their first few years of school when considering playing a part in social media. Good manners FTW! I won&#8217;t give examples because these are my experiences and I&#8217;d rather have you take the time to correlate this idea with your past. I&#8217;ll try to stimulate this process with basic questions.</p>
<ul>
<li>What is attracting you to this person?</li>
<li>Is this attraction innocent?</li>
<li>Do you share common interests?</li>
<li>How would you like to be approached by someone new?</li>
<li>How would you like someone to maintain the relationship with you?</li>
<li>What are the best ways for keeping the relationship rewarding for both parties?</li>
<li>Would hurting this person or treating them well determine who you are?</li>
</ul>
<p>Yes, we are all a lot older but I think if we recall the fundamentals from our past and utilize our current adult knowledge base, we can easily step up our game.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>At most of the conferences that I attend the trade show portion is a second thought. It&#8217;s something that people try to squeeze in but if they happen to miss it, meh.  The forgotten child of conferences- no more. At Blog World Expo the exhibitors are the same companies and services that we use everyday in social media. They are part of the community. It&#8217;s a much more intimate experience between social media service consumer and service provider than say part supplier and major automotive client.</p>
<p>Social media is a bit like a tribe, and the members of the this tribe move effortlessly between consumer, producer, and corporate entity. It was quite refreshing to stroll the trade-show floor and see vibrant conversation between not just customer and company, but between friends. The booths at the BWE tradeshow were adorned with couches, cameras and audi mics with throngs of media producers and consumers creating said media in real time. Something that is impossible to replicate in other industries. I don&#8217;t think Boeing could fabricate a new landing gear at a trade show while a buyer from United Airlines looks on.</p>
<p>The ecosystem comes full circle in Social media. Content producers, consumers, and companies all work together to create the media revolution we are enjoying. So great to see a trade-show that was just as high energy (or more) as the panels and after parties.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Caught a great panel towards the end of the day on Sunday about blogging and Social Media ethics. While I was a <em>little</em> tired from the night before and <em>may</em> have rested my eyelids a little bit I did absorb quiet a bit of the information from the Speakers. <a href="http://convinceandconvert.com/">Jay Bear, Blog Author at Convince and Convert</a> shared some great insight from his past agency experience regarding disclosure and authenticity in social media marketing efforts.</p>
<p><strong>Main Panel Take-Away:</strong> While the &#8220;rules&#8221; are still being codified in the fast moving industry, it is paramount that agencies working on behalf of their clients don&#8217;t cut any corners and are clear with their messaging. &#8220;Sponsored&#8221; content is okay and a significant part of an overall campaign, sponsored content that is not disclosed as sponsored and is passed off as authentic crosses over to illegal (FTC) and unethical activity. Agencies need to be wary to maintain this line and educate their clients in proper disclosure laws.</p>
<p>Blog World Expo had some great panels, although I only dropped into a couple. I gain far more value however from the casual hallway networking and evening social activities in terms of sharing views with peers, creating new relationships, and maintaing existing ones. Social Media is about being Social obviously, and the panel format at conferences tend to be 1 way communication unless you happenstance a great Q&amp;A session. <strong>My 2 cents: </strong>to get the most value out of the cost of your badge simply walk around the hallways and trade show floors with your iphone put away, an approachable smile on your face and say hello to people. You never know whom you will meet after sparking up a coversation. In other Words: <strong>Be Social-able.</strong></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Representing brands is hard.  Don&#8217;t let anyone ever tell you it isn&#8217;t. It is especially hard in the social media world, where anyone can flame you about your product &#8211; and have an impact &#8211; without you ever being sure they have even laid eyes on your stuff. We are still in an era where some c-suites get it and some don&#8217;t. Nowhere is that truer when talking about computer technology.</p>
<p>Ever seen <a href="http://socialmediaclubhouse.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/apple-marketshare.jpg" target="_blank">this picture</a>? It&#8217;s supposed to represent two things- Apple&#8217;s market share and Apple&#8217;s demographics. But do you see that guy in the fourth row? The one WITHOUT an Apple. How much respect do we have for him? If you&#8217;re a PC lover like me, a whole bunch. If you&#8217;re an Apple lover, maybe not a whole bunch. But here&#8217;s the thing- ever wonder what makes Apple a good product for many? The combination of the software and hardware. The hardware is designed to run its OS optimally. Windows is much the same. THAT is why I am lenovo lover.</p>
<p>Windows and various applications take power and ram and processors and on and on and on, and not all products are made equal. Just because a brand slaps the Windows sticker on the package doesn&#8217;t mean it will run optimally on that machine. How often do we hear the following complaints- Windows is so slow, Windows crashed,  Windows won&#8217;t load up, etc. Naturally, the average computer user is going to think- &#8220;Well, maybe I should get a Apple, windows machines suck.&#8221; Imagine you are a company that builds machines and they run Winows and they do it <em>flawlessly</em>, you now have to defend your brand to someone who may not even know your brand. Like I said, representing brands is hard.</p>
<p>Then there is a Lenovo. It is no mistake that I love Lenovos, that I have two of them, and that I recommend them to everyone. I do this for two reasons: One, as a developer I need the power of a Windows OS (many will dispute this, each developer is different) and two I need a machine that can power my OS and various programs. Lenovo does both for me. If you ever meet me at an event and ask me to help you with your blog (this happens a lot to me, and I am glad to do it), I pop open my Lenovo and go to work.</p>
<p>As a blogger, no one cares what machine I write my words on, and I am not an Apple hater (I have a iTouch that I love), but as someone who has to be an occiansional code monkey, I care what machine I entrust my work on. Thanks Lenovo!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-593" href="http://socialmediaclubhouse.com/2010/10/15/3-reasons-why-im-grateful-for-bwe10-smch4/index-1/"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-593" title="Blog World Expo 2010" src="http://socialmediaclubhouse.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/index-1-300x65.png" alt="" width="300" height="65" /></a>As a business owner who tries to give back to the community, I am acutely aware of the effort, resources, and creativity needed to host an event. As you most likely know, there are about 10 of us staying in an awesome house sponsored by <a title="personal computers " href="http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/#ss">Lenovo</a> and brought together by Chris Heuer and Kristie Wells of <a title="The best club ever" href="http://socialmediaclub.org/">Social Media Club</a>. This house is epic but more important is that the feel of the experience has been positive. We all have different personalities but there is a sense of commodore. A special thanks to Lenovo, Social Media Club, and the cool house mates for this opportunity.</p>
<p>Yesterday, we all piled into the 15 passenger van and headed down to <a title="Blog World Expo" href="http://www.blogworldexpo.com/">Blog World Expo</a> at the Mandalay Bay in attempts to register for the event. At many conferences, trying to register can take a ridiculously long time. Looking back, I can&#8217;t tell if we were very lucky or the set up the process was phenomenal. I&#8217;m thinking it&#8217;s a mixture of the two. Individual registration areas allowed attendees to scan a bar code. Then an attendant walked over with the badge and lanyard. Total time- maybe 5 minutes tops. It was similar to the self help kiosks at the airport. Thanks to the BWE10 team for making that process one of the best I&#8217;ve ever experienced.</p>
<p>The third reason I am grateful is because the Real Estate agents here kick ass! I have so much admiration for their profession and what they&#8217;re doing. Many real estate agents are old school so when I meet them at events such as this it&#8217;s apparent to me that I&#8217;m near people who are starting a revolution. It&#8217;s invigorating and I thank them for being a good influence in the social media space. I have to give a shout out to some of my favorite people who are real estate agents. They are <a title="Andy Kaufman" href="http://twitter.com/AndyKaufman">Andy Kaufman</a>, <a title="Jay " href="http://twitter.com/phxreguy">Jay Thompson</a>, <a title="Justin" href="http://twitter.com/jmchood">Justin McHood</a>, <a title="Ginger W" href="http://twitter.com/gingerw">Ginger Wilcox</a>, <a title="Nicole Nicolay" href="http://twitter.com/nik_nik">Nicole Nicolay</a> and <a title="Reggie Nicolay" href="http://twitter.com/reggierpr">Reggie Nicolay</a>. Again, thanks for the inspiration.</p>
<p>This is my first time to Blog World Expo but it won&#8217;t be my last. I look forward to keeping you updated on my experience here in Vegas. =)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was a little nervous when I was asked to be part of the Social Media Clubhouse. Like most nerds, I am most comfortable wading through some code, not chatting you up about the latest social media analyzing tool. Think the two go hand in hand? Think again. There are two types of social media practitioners- the talker and the listener. Both are equally valuable for you and your business, and here I will attempt to explain the difference.</p>
<p>The talker is probably the person you know and are familiar with, either in person or on twitter. They have something to say or to sell. Depending on how engaging they are, they may or may not be worth your time. Take the Social Media Club founders, Chris and Kristie. They are both talkers and authentic. Are they worth your time? Definitely. Not because they have something to sell you (they do if you&#8217;re interested) or because they think they are the best at what they do (they certainly are among the best, but you won&#8217;t hear that from them), but because no matter who you are they look you in the eye, ask who you are, what you do, and will engage you on any subject. Their enthusiam is contagious and wonderful and happy and so not me. Hard to admit, but it&#8217;s true.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m a listener. I won&#8217;t introduce myself to you. I am on the peripheral of your group shamelessly eavesdropping. Think I am missing opportunities? Think again. It&#8217;s amazing the things I hear when people think you aren&#8217;t there. I listen to the chatter, whether it is on Facebook, twitter, digg, or Reddit. I seem to have a knack for knowing which story &#8216;has legs&#8217;. Why do I know this? Because I have listened. I have heard the things that people won&#8217;t necessarily say to the person who is asking them who I am or what I do. I am the person who can spot trends before they are trends, can anticipate the conversations direction before you know where its going. No, I am not the belle of the ball, or the person you remember meeting, but that&#8217;s not imporant. What is important is that I remember what you were talking about.</p>
<p>Thinking about hiring for you social media team? Make sure to hire a talker and a listener. A talker will engage your audience and spread new initiatives, and bring your brand your market. But don&#8217;t forget about the listener. The listener will protect your leading edge and inform your of your opportunties because they see it before anyone else.</p>
<p>The social media clubhouse has both and actively fosters these skill-sets in both the talkers and the listeners.</p>
