Nice interview by Melissa Jun Rowley from the LA Weekly who caught up with TechZulu host and Social Media Clubhouse Daily Recapper, Amanda Coolong, giving readers a great view into the activities (and shenanigans!) that took place at the Social Media Clubhouse during SxSW 2010.

I am thrilled so many people were able to come by the Clubhouse during SxSW and this is absolutely something Chris and I will continue to do. The houses may not all be as decadent as this one was in Austin (there were days I felt like wrapping the $12k couch in plastic to protect it), but the core idea of bringing smart people together to live and work under the same roof while creating interesting content and sharing their experiences with one another is something we wholly believe in (and ties perfectly into our work with Social Media Club).

Stay tuned folks…we are just getting warmed up.

Kole Christensen is that rare combination of fun with a message that only comes around every blue moon. As a motivational speaker, she has been turning her close call with death into a story of caution for thousands of high school students across the country. As a performer with incredible range and a story teller with wit and wisdom that exceeds her short time here on earth so far, she will make you smile, think and sing along with her and everyone else in the room.

Kole joined us during SxSW 2010 down in Austin, TX, at the Social Media Clubhouse as one of the winners of our Be A Resident VJ contest, getting a chance to live with us in this incredible mansion on Lake Austin for a week. In the end we were the real winners, getting a chance to meet Kole and hear some of her beautiful music. Lucky for you, Chris Heuer knew enough tech to setup the camera and mic and capture this rare performance to share with you now.

Listen along and judge for yourself, but we think Kole is a name you will be hearing a lot about for a long time to come….

The Synaptic Web Summit: Video

On Saturday (March 13th) Social Media Club and Intel hosted the Synaptic Web Summit and invited Kevin Marks from BT/Ribbit, Khris Loux and Chris Saad from Echo, Werner Vogels from Amazon, Chris Heuer from Social Media Club, Alisa Leonard from iCrossing, Jeff Revesz from Adaptive Semantics, Paul Berry from the Huffington post, and Jeremiah Owyang from Altimeter group to come in and discuss the differences between semantic web and the synaptic web and what it means to people who use this wonderful thing called ‘the internet’.

We had some issues with the internet connection, so the last 10 minutes was lost thanks to Time Warner not liking our bandwidth consumption. Far from pleased, but happy we got as much of the conversation streamed as we did. We are planning to regroup and dig into this topic a lot deeper and will advise when the next event is locked and ready to go.

Our thanks again to Intel for supporting the Synaptic Web Summit to ensure this conversation to happen.

Ordering a round of Bloody Mary Bites

It is a lazy day here in the Social Media Clubhouse as the noon hour hits and finds many of us are still in our PJ’s as we clear through emails and get caught up on client work. Coworking with Chill on XM and good real world friends, is awesome.

Today calls for a pan full of eggs and Bloody Mary bites, compliments of resident Jeremy Tanner. Take a shot glass, fill it half way with good vodka, add a little spicy salsa and then fill it with Bloody Mary mix. Just enough of a zing to put a little skip in your step, but not take you out for the day.

Thanks Jeremy. Just what we needed.

Seems the boys had a good time last night as they share their experiences, which included a wee bit too much alcohol, a gas station that refused to pump gas and coining a new term ‘casual cab’.

Just happy they got back alive. Ha.
