Social Media Club Mantra: If You Get it, Share it.

When my “Social Media Clubhouse” invite arrived I got one of those uncontrollable giddy smiles…you know what I am talking about – that smile that is just a wee bit bigger than then the last one you got when something surprisingly good happened to you and even if you wanted to, you couldn’t wipe it from your face. Yep. One of those…

So yes…I’m goofily smiling and thinking to myself….”Wow….this must be my lucky week….” Then I find myself in gracious overload because it’s been a very lucky YEAR…” [wipes meaningful tear]

Let me take you back – like the ghost of Social Networks Past…except my ghost kinda looks like a cross between Liz Strauss, Chris Brogan and Scobleizer and they visit us with a Blue Moon in one hand and in the other hand they carry a bottle of Glenlevit with my old myspace password written on the label for social past and a QR code on it so at anytime we can get distracted into a conversation about the future of mobile….

You are getting sleepy…Oh wait, that’s another story…. Look into the hot tub steam….and think circa fall, 2008…I buy an iPhone 3G. Yes….I found all of YOU because of my first iPhone…and a free app that connected me to the “micro-blogging” site called twitter.

TWITTER.

You know what my first tweet was?

I love that tweet – because IT means the world to me. It was 5am-ish (I was avoiding sleep as usual!) and I was setting up this “twittah thing” just before heading off for an early morning nap. I remember looking around our loft – beautifully lit by the flickering late night infomercial – for a bit of “first tweet inspiration” when I caught a glimpse of my anti-social media hubby snoozing 90+ ft away. Boom. Not having my own opinion (or agenda), I simply wrote what I knew he would think of my newest foray into [his lingo] “social network/aka online time waster -ing.”

Fast Forward to one year later where I am attending my first blogworld two weeks into my first Community Manager gig and fast forward to now where I pinch myself every day because I love what I do so much that it’s like getting paid to breathe – and it’s quite moving that my “wasting time…my new hobby” tweet could not have been farther from the truth – and I LOVE THAT….

Why?

Because when it’s right..and when it’s your “thing” - that thing you were born to do – it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks – even your person – because it’s your thing, It trumps. It’s awesome. It’s right – and it just happens and flows because it comes from your heart.

The heart always rules.

“You are always on a wide, safe path as long as you listen to and follow your heart….” - J.Cainer

I sit here tonight thinking of my “wide, safe path…” and how none of this current fabulousness I am priviledged to experience right now would never have been possible if there were not so many people putting the Social Media Club Tagline ~ ”If you get it, share it.” into physical existence. I’ve studied up on the awesomeness that is Kristie Wells and Chris Heuer and besides the Social Media Club’s official advancement and promotion of media literacy, industry standards and the encouragement of ethical behavior – they based the soul of their organization on one thing ~ the belief that

“What matters most is the heart...and sharing the heart is the only route to personal and professional success.”

Kristie and Chris started The Social Media Club and the Social Media Clubhouse because they got it…and their desire was to share it…and today that is why a brand as special as Lenovo sponsors the ahhhmazing #smch4 mansion at Blogworld Expo 2010 with five pools and four hot tubs. Basically – once it begins, you can’t stop the positive domino effect of stellar individuals, organizations and companies who are getting it and sharing it…

I am honored to be have shared space with the Lenovo team and my Social Media Clubhouse-mates. I plan to keep this positive [getting it/sharing it!] domino falling forward.

This is our world to create and cultivate…to Get it and Share it. I hope you will join us?

Love You / Mean it
